December 22, Friday, I am at the store and nothing gets me busy aside from reading news flashing on my monitor. And the only news that interest me are those of the Smith issue. I have been getting updates about the custody issue of Lance Corporal Daniel Smith and so far Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alberto Romulo and US Ambassador Kristie Kenney signed an agreement on Dec. 18, 2006 for Smith to be turned over to the US embassy.

"The government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the United States of America agree that, in accordance with the Visiting Forces Agreement signed between our two nations, Lance Corporal Daniel J. Smith, United States Marine Corps, be returned to the US military custody at the US Embassy in Manila," read the petition.

Do you think people of the Philippines would believe a s*** chick like nicole? I don't think so, and mind you I have some white guy friends and they behave well, they don't do stupid stuff to you unless you give them the hint.

BOTTOM LINE IS: that nicole was plainly humiliated when some people saw her being dumped on the pavement and accused the guy she desired for raping her just to cover up the issue.

THE RESULT: anti-VFA militants and politicians fueled the issue and used nicole to discretely protest over the Americans.

THE TRUTH: that Filipinos are fond of using other people for their benefit.

AS RAPE convict Lance Corporal Daniel Smith remains in the Makati City Jail, a group is praying that he will soon prove his innocence.

Led by a Filipino woman married to a US Navy man, the group called “Supporters of Daniel Smith” is preparing to hold a vigil for the jailed American Marine.

“It’s a group of military wives, expats [expatriates] and other Filipinos -- bank employees, lawyers, men, women, daughters, grandmothers -- who support Smith. This is the voice of Filipino women, not of that rape victim and her supporters,” said Grace Santos, 34.

Santos she said she formed the group after Smith was convicted on Dec. 4.

She said the group of around 30 members would hold candlelight activities in front of the Makati City Jail to inspire hope in the 21-year-old Smith, who has been sentenced to up to 40 years in prison for raping a Filipino woman inside a moving van on Nov. 1, 2005.

“I am doing this not because I am married to a US serviceman. I am doing this because I am a Filipina and I know what justice is,” said Santos, a native of Bulacan province, north of Manila.

Yes, I admit that I am also a pro-Smith not because my boyfriend is an ex-US navy guy but I believe for what young Smith stands for. If you have seen the proceedings of the case you would say that he is indeed the victim. I know a lot of people, including Filipino people believe that Smith is innocent and that "people with vested interests" only exaggerated the issue.

Five days ago I was the celebrant, but what about today? It's mom's bday! Obviously not my biological mom anyways, it's my mom-in-law to be. Well her bday is actually on the 12th but I guess it falls today my time since we are in different time zones. I imagine how happy she is today. I haven't met her yet I am sure she is the mom that every child longs for. I have only talked to her over the phone a few times but I can say she is a nice and loving mom... From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the best in life, Mom! I am looking forward to meeting you one day.

Today I am 28 years old and quite happy!

Been contented with what I have for now makes me appreciate life itself.
Having a very supportive family, cheerful and concerned friends, and of course a wonderful bestfriend (my bf), is one of the many things why I am still existing in this world. Oh, plus the technology, the Internet which is my everyday company, I enjoy it!

I may not know what will happen tomorrow or in the future but as long as I live I still hope for the best!

Sorry, I've been out for quite a while, I've been spending too much time on my class, I enrolled on Adobe Photoshop. This is a free online class sponsored by About.com and you can learn at your own pace in your own convenience. I have pretty much fun doing it and as of now I am on Lesson 4. Learning the basics on graphics design is one of my interests so hopefully I would be able to create my own design by the end of the course (GRIN!)
